New Roads Therapeutic Community was chosen to receive your $18,500!

 

At our last meeting on March 4th We heard from three amazing charities:

 

1.Debbie Lawrence and Kathy Johnson for Need 2 Suicide Prevention Education & Support

 

2. Paula Young for the Saanich Peninsula Lions Food Bank

 

3. Debra Greenaway for Beacon Community Services Shoal Centre

 

Need 2 Suicide Prevention Education & Support received $20,400!

At our 19th meeting on December 4th 2019, we heard from 3 of our members about 3 very worthy charities:

1.  Janet O'Keeffe for Saanich Peninsula Community Foundation https://sp-cf.ca/

2. Sheila Fea for Mary Winspear Society - which operates the Centre as well as maintaining the Memorial Park, Blue Heron park and school track with some funding from Sidney and North Saanich http://marywinspear.ca/get-involved

3. Roberta Williston for Kamps For Kids (Victoria Foundation)

Last night we helped to make some spirits bright!  $19,100 donated to Kamps For Kids that will see underprivileged children experience the joy of summer camp!

Our 18th meeting was held Wednesday September 18, 2019

 

The three charities nominated were:

 

Victoria Hospice Society nominated by Rosemary Walker

Saanich Peninsula Community Foundation

Cancer Driveline nominated by Gloria Maclucas

 

Cancer Driveline is receiving $17,700!

Our 17th meeting was held June 5th, 2019 at the Mary Winspear Centre

We had three fabulous charities nominated:

 

1. 1000 X 5 Children’s Book Project  nominated by Daphne MacNaughton

2. Citizen’s Counselling Centre nominated by Sandy Lundmark

3. Kamps for Kids nominated by Roberta Williston

 

$17,400 was awarded to 1000 X 5 Children’s Book Project

Our 16th meeting was held March 13th, 2019 at the Mary Winspear Centre.

 

We had three fabulous charities nominated:

 

The three charities were:

 

1. First up was Judy Tsukijima who spoke about The Juan De Fuca Search and Rescue. They reach far in to the peninsula as they have equipment and services that no one else has  in our area and provide an amazing volunteer service. Her account of real life scenarios was very moving.

 

2. Secondly we heard from Stasia Hartley and her nominated charity was We Rage We Weep Alzheimer Foundation. Her depiction of those with Alzheimer's was heart felt as she works in the healthcare industry and told some beautiful and yet heartbreaking stories.

 

3. Third up Ginny York and Lauren Wiegel who spoke on behalf of Hero Work Program Society together and gave a passionate overview of how many other non profit organizations that Hero Work steps in to help with volunteers. Over 8000 hours last year!

 

Hero Work was selected to receive $17,300

 

 

 

Our Fifteenth Meeting was December  5th 2018.

 

We heard from three amazing and will deserving charities.

 

1. Spinal Cord Injury BC

2. YMCA/YWCA of Vancouver Island Young Moms program

3. Mount Newton Centre Society Respite Program

 

Mount Newton Centre Society was selected to receive $16,800

Our Fourteenth Meeting - September 12th 2018 - We heard from three amazing and will deserving charities. It was a tough decision!

 

The three charities were:

 

1. Mary Winspear Centre

 

2. Island Kids Cancer Association

 

3. Cornerstone Youth Society

 

 

We voted for Cornerstone Youth Society and they received $16,600!

Our Thirteenth Meeting - May 30th 2018 - We heard from three amazing and will deserving charities. It was a tough decision!

 

The three charities were:

 

1. YMCA-YWCA on Vancouver Island  Young Mom Program

 

2. Kamps for Kids

 

3. InterCultural Association of Greater Victoria

 

We voted for InterCultural Association of Greater Victoria and they received $16,400!

Our  Twelfth Meeting - March 7th 2018 at the Mary Winspear Centre we had the honour of hearing from three very deserving charities:

 

  1. Victoria womens transition housing society nominated by  Penny Coulson

  2. Together we can  nominated by Carol McLeod

  3. Beacon community services 1000x5 books  nominated by Daphne Macnaughton

 

All 3 of these charities were very deserving and it was our closest 3  way vote to date.

Victoria Women’s Transition House Society was selected to receive $16,200!

Our  Eleventh Meeting – November  22, 2017 at the Mary Winspear Centre

 

The chosen Charities were:

 

       1. Greater Victoria Citizens Counselling Centre

 

       2. Saanich Peninsula Hospital Foundation

 

       3. Ovarian Cancer Canada

 

Ovarian Cancer Canada will be receiving $16,100!

Our  Tenth Meeting – September 06, 2017 at Glen Meadows Golf and Country Club

 

The chosen Charities were:

 

       1. We Rage, We Weep Alzheimer Foundation

 

       2. Threshold Housing Society

 

       3. Mount Newton Centre Society

 

The Threshold Housing Society will be receiving $15,000!

Our Ninth Meeting – June 07, 2017 at Glen Meadows Golf and Country Club

 

The chosen Charities were:

 

       1. Children’s Heart Network

 

       2. Threshold Housing Society

 

       3. Mary Winspear Centre

 

The Children’s Heart Network will be receiving $15,300!

Our Eighth meeting – March 1, 2017 at Glen Meadows Gold and Country Club

 

The chosen charites were:

 

1.       Beacon Community Services

 

2.       Anawim Companions Society

 

3.       Bridges For Women

 

 

The chosen charity tonight was the Bridges for Women and they will receive $15,300!

Our Seventh meeting – November 30, 2016 at Glen Meadows Gold and Country Club

 

The chosen charites were:

1.       The Children’s Heart Network
2.       Canadian Foundation of University Women
3.       The Sidney Lion’s Food Bank

 

 

The chosen charity tonight was the Sidney Lion’s Food Banks and they will receive $14,000!

Sixth  Meeting -  September 7, 2016 2016 at Glen Meadows Golf & Country Club

Our three charities nominated:
1. Boys and Girls Club Victoria Warrior Women’s Program
2. Beacon Community Services 1000 X 5  Children’s Book Recycling Project
3. Victoria Women’s Transition House Society

 

The winner tonight was Boys and Girls Club Victoria Warrior Women’s Program nominated by Kathy Johnson!
Boys and Girls Club Victoria Warrior Women’s Program recieved $13, 400!

Fifth  Meeting -  June 8th, 2016 at Glen Meadows Golf & Country Club

 

Our three charities chosen:

 1. Children's Heart Network

 2. Victoria Hospice Society

 3. Canadian Federation of University Women Saanich Peninsula

 

The winner tonight was Victoria Hospice Society chosen by Rosemary Walker. Victoria Hospice Society recieved $13,300!

Fourth Meeting -  March 2nd, 2016 at Glen Meadows Golf & Country Club

 

The chosen charities were:

1.       Jump Start

2.       ParkinGo Wellness Society

3.       Bridges for Women Society

 

Our winner was ParkinGo Wellness Society  nominated by Jillian Carson! Congratulations Jillian!

ParkinGo Wellness received $12,900!

Third Meeting -  December 9th, 2015 at The Mary Winspear Centre

 

The three chosen charities were:

1.       Parkin-Go Wellness

2.       Artemis Place

3.       Parkin-Go Wellness

 

The winner of our third meeting (after being drawn at all three meetings!) was Artemis Place and they received $12,400!

Second Meeting September 16, 2015 at Glen Meadows Golf and Country Club

 

The three chosen charities were:

1.       Artemis Place

2.       Victoria Hospice

3.       The Victoria Brain Injury Society

 

The winner of our second meeting was The Victoria Brain Injury Society and the received $10, 700!

First Meeting - May 6, 2015 at Glen Meadows Gold and Country Club

 

The three chosen charities were:

1.       The Cridge Centre for the Family

2.       Artemis Place

3.       JumpStart

 

The winner of our inaugural meeting was The Cridge Centre for the Family and we donated $8400 towards their respite program!
